Monday night the East Brunswick Township Council voted unanimously to cut more than $1 million from the 2008-2009 school budget to reduce teh school-tax levy rejected by voters last month. The reduction will lower the proposed school tax which was proposed to be 6.89-cent tax-rate increase. The proposed budget would have increased the school-tax rate by 6.89 cents per $100 of assessed value, adding $69 to the school property tax bill for the owner of a home assessed at $100,00.
